Batumi Shota Rustaveli State Medical University History

The idea of building the establishment of this institution was proposed in 1893. However, the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University received its official name in the year 1938. The history of this institute has taken many turns because it is believed to be the most important educational centre of the country.  We have summarized its complete history as follows:-

1893	In 1893 the issue was raised to open a Boys’ Gymnasium in Batumi. Boy’s Gymnasium established in 1897 began functioning. In, 1900 it became possible to open a Women’s Gymnasium as well.
1923	A Pedagogical Institute was founded in the building of the former Women’s Gymnasium. It later turned into a Pedagogical College.
1935	In the building of the Boys’ Gymnasium, a 2-year Teacher’s Institute was opened.
1938	The Institute was named after Shota Rustaveli.
1990	Batumi State University was established.

Entrance Exam in India	There are no entrance examinations in India like IELTS/SAT, etc. NEET qualification is a must for Indian students.

FMGE stands for Foreign Medical Graduates Examination. Students who have completed MBBS from Georgia, or from any other country have to sit for this exam. It is conducted by NBE i.e., National Board of Examination, India. Foreign Indian Medical graduates who want to practice their doctorship in India need to clear this exam. This exam has been replaced by NEXT which will also replace NEET-PG.
