Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

The eligibility criteria for admission to Samarkand State Medical University are not very high and admission is easier when compared to countries such as USA/UK/Poland or other countries in the EU. This is because universities such as Samarkand State Medical University have relaxed the eligibility criteria for Indian students.

Following is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission of an Indian student to Samarkand –

  • Age – the student must be 17 years old on or before the 31st of December in the year in which the student is taking admission
  • 12th % – A general category student must have at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for admission. If the student is from SC/ST/OBC category then they must have at least 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Also, all the other subjects must be passed.
  • NEET – You must have qualified NEET in the current year or in the previous 2 years for MBBS admission abroad as per NMC rules.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction for Indian students will be English for the entire course duration. It is to be noted that  Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 states that a student must have ‘Received a foreign medical degree with the medium of instructions in English’. This means that you cannot study in any other language.

However, you are required to study the local language as well. This is a must for every student and is a part of the course. It will be useful for daily interaction with the locals and with the patients during the internship.

Hostel Facility for Global Medical Foundation’s Students

Every new student will be provided with a hostel facility by the university itself. There will be separate hostels for boys and girls and the hostel campus will accommodate only Indian students. The hostel will provide 4 seater and 2 seater rooms. However, most of the rooms are 4 seater only. Washrooms will be common and there will be no kitchen facility in the hostel. Parents need not worry about the safety of the students as the hostels will have guards and restrictions on the movement of students after a certain time. Also, outsiders will not be allowed inside the hostels.

Indian Mess Facility

Indian food, especially veg food is a big concern for students who think about studying abroad. This won’t be a problem for Indian students at Samarkand State Medical University as there is an Indian mess with Indian cooks. Both veg and non-veg food will be served to the students through the Indian mess. Shobhit Jayaswal has visited the Indian mess and in fact, during his stay in Samarkand, he ate food only at the Indian mess.

The mess has 2 Indian chefs plus local helpers. The Indian mess is located at Hostel-5. Some of the Indian teachers are living in Hostel-5 and eat at the Indian mess only. Please note that you might not get access to this Indian mess if you apply through other agents in India. Admission Process at Samarkand State Medical University

  • After the issue of the visa, we will send you a photo of the same and will proceed with the booking of flight tickets. We send students in groups only.
  • You will travel to Delhi for your flight to Uzbekistan. We will return your original documents. Also, you need to pay 3rd and final instalment of the fee due to Global Medical Foundation.
  • The students will meet other students going to Samarkand State Medical University at the airport and travel to Uzbekistan.
  • Once you reach the airport in Uzbekistan, our team will provide an airport pick-up facility and will take the students to Samarkand where you will start your journey of becoming a doctor.

Can I earn while studying MBBS in Uzbekistan?

No, you cannot work as you will be on a student visa. Also, you won’t get as much free time also.

Holidays

The university will be off for around 2 months – July and August. The students can come back to India during this time. Indian mess is closed during this time. The students can book a direct flight between Tashkent and Delhi at a cost of approx. ₹17,000 to 20,000. It takes only 2 hours via train and 4.5 hours via taxi to travel between Samarkand and Tashkent.
