Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

The eligibility criteria for admission to Samarkand State Medical University are relatively straightforward for Indian students. Compared to countries like the USA, the UK, Australia, or those in the European Union, securing admission here is much easier. The following are the minimum eligibility criteria for admission of an Indian student to Samarkand –

• Age – the student must be 17 years old on or before the 31st of December in the year in which the student is taking admission
• 12th % – A general category student must have at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for admission. If the student is from the SC/ST/OBC category, they must have at least 40% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Also, all the other subjects must be passed.
• NEET – You must have secured qualifying marks in NEET in the current year or the previous 2 years for MBBS admission abroad as per NMC rules.

Medium of Instruction at Samarkand Medical University

The medium of instruction for Indian students will be English for the entire course duration. As per the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021, a student must have ‘Received a foreign medical degree with the medium of instruction in English’. This means that you cannot study in any other language.

However, you are required to study the local language as well. This is a must for every student and is a part of the course. It will be helpful for daily interaction with the locals and patients during the internship.

Hostel Facility for Global Medical Foundation’s Students

Every new student taking admission through the Global Medical Foundation will be provided a room in the hostel. There are separate hostels for boys and girls, and the hostel campus will accommodate only Indian students. The hostel will offer rooms for four people and two people. Parents need not worry about the safety of the students as the hostels will have guards and restrictions on the movement of students after a specific time. Also, outsiders will not be allowed inside the hostels.

Indian Mess Facility at Samarkand State Medical University

Indian food, mainly vegetarian food, is a significant concern for students considering studying abroad. This won’t be a problem for Indian students at Samarkand State Medical University, as there is an Indian mess with Indian cooks. The mess has 2 Indian chefs plus local helpers. The Indian mess is located at Hostel-5. Some of the Indian teachers are living in Hostel-5 and eat at the Indian mess only. Admission Process at Samarkand State Medical University

• The students will meet other students going to Samarkand State Medical University at the airport and travel to Uzbekistan.

No, you cannot work as you will be on a student visa. Also, you won’t get as much free time.

Major Holidays for Indian Students at Samarkand State Medical Institute

The university will be off for around 2 months – July and August. The students can come back to India during this time. The Indian mess is closed during this time.
