History of Osh State University
Osh State University was founded in 1951 as Osh State Pedagogical Institute. It got the status of the University in 1992. Here is the history of the university:
Osh Pedagogical Institute (1939-1951)
In 1939, in order to overcome a low number teachers in schools and pedagogical training, Institute for teachers was opened. The Institute offered a two-year training programme. This training was in subjects such as History and Philology, Physics, Mathematics and Natural sciences and Geography.
Osh State Pedagogical Institute (1951-1992)
On May 24, 1951, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Osh State Pedagogical Institute as established. In 1961, the new campus was built. The number of graduates increased year by year from Osh State Pedagogical Institute.
Osh State University (1992 – Present)
To ensure educational development in Southern Kyrgyzstan, in 1992, by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Osh State University was established.
New faculties and departments were established to ensure country’s development and to train highly qualified specialists to meet the requirements of the labor market. The Medicial Faculty of the university was established in 1993.
Osh is located towards the south of Kyrgyzstan. It is the 2nd largest and the oldest city in the country. The total population of the region is about 2.8 lakh. The city of Osh experiences a continental climate, with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The temperature will drop below zero degrees C in the months of December-February. There will be snowfall during this period. The months of May-November are warm months. Osh is about 600 km away from the capital city of Bishkek. However, it takes as little as 30-45 minutes to reach Osh via flight from Bishkek. More than 500 Indian students are studying here. Indian students have been going to Osh State Medical University for many years now. It is not a new option for Indians. More than 1,000 Indian students have graduated from Osh State Medical University.

Osh State University Eligibility for Indian Students
Following is Osh State Medical University MBBS eligibility criteria:
Entrance Exam in India There is no entrance exam in India like IELTS/SAT, etc. NEET qualification is must. Age The student must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December of the year in which the admission is being taken. Board The candidate must have completed class 12th from a regular and recognised board. Marks for General Category students The student must have an aggregate of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject. Marks for Other Category students The candidate must have an aggregate of at least 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject. NEET You need to qualify NEET from 2018 onwards for admission in abroad. NEET result is valid for 3 years from 2018 onwards for MBBS abroad admission.
Medical Faculty of Osh State University
The medical faculty started in 1993 at Osh State Medical University. It also started to train foreign students from the same year. The entire course is taught in the English language. Currently, more than 3,500 students are studying at the medical faculty at Osh. The degree awarded by the university is called M.D (Doctor of Medicine). This degree is equivalent to MBBS in India. Osh State Medical University Hostel
Osh State Medical University provides hostel facility to all incoming international students. Multipe hostels are made available by the university. The students will stay in 3-4 sharing rooms which are fully furnished. Also, rooms are equipped with central heating facility. You will be provided with chairs, tables, beds, pillows, mattress, almirahs.
