In November 2021, the NMC of India came out with the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations. As per the new rules, here is what is required –
- Complete education should be in English, which is the case in Kyrgyzstan.
- The course duration for Indian students at medical universities in Kyrgyzstan should be a minimum of 54 months. The universities in Kyrgyzstan have introduced a 54-month course for Indian students.
- Undergo an internship of 1 year – The duration of MBBS in Kyrgyzstan is 5.5 years including an internship of 1 year.
- You must be registered with the respective professional regulatory body and get a license to practice in that country. As per a letter issued by Osh State University (a government medical university in Kyrgyzstan) and many other universities in Kyrgyzstan, the same degree is granted to local and foreign citizens after completing their education. This will lead to registration with the Kyrgyz Professional Regulatory Body and a license to practice Medicine in the Kyrgyz Republic and at par with the local citizens.
