The foundation of Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy was first laid by Dr Petre Shotadze in the year 1992. Being a 1970 graduate of Tbilisi State Medical University, Dr PetrMe completed his higher education from Tbilisi State Institute of Postgraduate Education for Physicians. After becoming the head of  Pediatric Surgery, he dreamt of spreading his quality education to others. After the passing away of Dr Petre Shotadze in 1999, the college was named after him. This is how Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy got its official name. Since then, the institute has served knowledge and perfection to over 1,700 graduates in the field of healthcare and treatment. Tbilisi Medical Academy Duration of MBBS Course

The duration of the program is 6 years or 12 semesters. Just like the other universities in Georgia, Tbilisi Medical Academy also follows the ECTS system. Each year equals 60 credits and in total, 360 credits are there. 1 credit equals 30 hours of education. The program is divided into three parts:

Tbilisi Medical Academy Eligibility Criteria

Entrance Exam in India There are no entrance examinations in India like IELTS/SAT, etc. NEET qualification is a must for Indian students.
Age The student must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December of the year in which the admission is being taken.
Board The candidate must have completed class 12th from a regular and recognised board.
Marks for General Category students The student must have an aggregate of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject.
Marks for Other Category students The candidate must have an aggregate of at least 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject.

Student’s evaluation system

The student is awarded a credit in case of the positive evaluation after the accomplishment of the learning course. The evaluation of students knowledge is multicomponent. The sum of points makes up 100 points maximum and includes

• 60 points on the basis of the attendance, activity, quiz, oral or written testing, the preparation of reviews, the presentation, the elaboration of clinical skills or any other components. The quantity of the components and estimation criteria are defined by the supervisor of the learning course and are presented in the syllabus.

• 40 points are provided for the final exam. o The student is allowed to pass the final exam in case if a maximum point of the final exam and the midterm evaluation he/she gets 51 points. o The final exam is considered to be passed if a student gets a minimum 20 points. The student is awarded a credit in case of getting 51-100 points. In the case of getting 41-50 points, a student will re-take the exam. In case of getting 40 points or less a student has to pass the learning course repeatedly.
