The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to go with the second phase of objective type National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scheduled on July 24 across the country.
With this decision, the Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (UPCPMT) will not be held this year, officials said here today.
The decision was taken last night after a high level meeting with chief minister Akhilesh Yadav recommending the officials to opt for NEET.
State principal secretary, medical education, Anup Chandra Pandey said here that it has been decided that the state will go with NEET for admissions to state run MBBS and dental colleges.
The government’s decision has cleared uncertainty over UPCPMT which had left the aspirants confused. The central government has brought in an ordinance to postpone NEET until next year and keep out state medical exams from its ambit. The first phase of NEET was held on May 1.
