UV Gullas College of Medicine is a WHO-recognized private university in Cebu, Philippines. It is also known as Gullas College of Medicine. The degree awarded by the Gullas College of Medicine is valid in India. You will be eligible to appear for the National Exit Test after graduating from this university. The university has 9 campuses in Cebu. The university was founded as the Visayan Institute in 1919 which was later given the status of the University of the Visayas in 1948, making it the first university in Cebu. The College of Medicine of UV Gullas was established in 1977 with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports.

A good number of Indian students are currently studying at this college. The majority of the students are from South India. No Indian students had graduated from Gullas College of Medicine between 2012-18 as there was no mention of the college in the FMGE passing percentage list during this period. However, in 2019 FMGE, a total of 28 Indian graduates of the Gullas College of Medicine appeared for FMGE and 15 managed to clear the exam.

The course duration is 5.5 years which includes 1.5 years of the pre-medical program. The MBBS program in the Philippines is called MD whereas the pre-medical program is called BS. For MBBS in Philippines, you cannot get direct admission in the MD program after class 12th. First, you need to complete the BS program which is of 1.5 years in UV Gullas College of Medicine. During the pre-medical, you need to clear NMAT, and then you will get admission in the 4 year MD program which is equivalent to MBBS in India. The entire course is in the English language. Since the local language in the Philippines is also English, you will not have to learn any other language.

UV Gullas College of Medicine offers hostel facility to all its international students. Hostel premises is safe and secured with 24×7 CCTV coverage.  There is in-campus and seperate hostel for boys and girls. Both north and south Indian food is served three times a day. Strict disipline is followed for International students. The hostel has all the facilities that Indian students require for a comfortable stay. There are separate study areas for boys and girls. This helps the students to prepare for their exams and assignments. The in-campus hostel offers airconditioned rooms as per the requirement of the students.

There is Indian mess facility at UV Gullas College of Medicine. The mess offeres varity of Indian dishes with both North Indian and South Indian food available. UV Gullas College of Medicine mess has Indian chef who prepare Indian food for the students. Non-veg food is strictly prepared by Halal method.

Admission Process

This is the admission process for the students who apply after completion of class 12th and have qualified NEET:

• Send scanned copy of 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, NEET result, passport to Global Medical Foundation.
• We will get your admission letter from the university and send it to you.
• Transfer fees to the university’s bank account.
• Submit original documents to Global Medical Foundation for visa process. We will provide you the list of documents.
• You will have to give personal interview at the Embassy of the Philippines in India. Getting the visa is subject to clearing the interview.
• On successful clearance of the interview, the Embassy will issue your visa and you will go to the Philippines for your MBBS studies.

UV Gullas College of Medicine Ranking –

• As per the website ‘https://www.4icu.org/’,  University of the Visayas College of Medicine world ranking is 11,176 and the country rank is 137.
• FMGE result is not available as Indian students haven’t passed out from University of the Visayas yet.

Global Medical Foundation will suggest that the students must take admission in the universities with a proven track record. We will suggest that the students should choose universities like:

• Bukovinian State Medical University, Ukraine (best FMGE result in Ukraine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia)

There is no mention of UV Gullas College of Medicine in the FMGE passing percentage list between 2012 to 2018. This simply means that Indian students had not graduated and appeared for FMGE between this period. In 2019, we can find the name of Gullas College of Medicine for the 1st time. Here is the FMGE passing percentage of Indian graduates from UV Gullas College of Medicine in 2019 –

• Appeared = 28
• Passed = 15

FMGE 2019 Passing percentage = 53.57%. The passing percentage is fantastic but the number of students who appeared are very low.
