Is Ukraine MBBS Valid in India?
A lot of parents ask this question in the counseling sessions: ‘Is Ukraine MBBS valid in India?’ and the answer is Yes, Ukraine MBBS degree is valid in India. The medical degree of Ukraine is called MD Physician. The MD Physician degree is equivalent to MBBS in India. Please note that this degree is not the MD degree of India. In India, an MD degree means a PG degree. However, the MD Physician degree of Ukraine which you will get after graduating will be equal to MBBS in India.
If a student completes medicine in Ukraine from an MCI approved university, then he or she, as per MCI rules, will be allowed to appear for FMGE or MCI screening test (soon will be NEXT). You need to clear this exam in order to practice in India. Once you clear the screening test, your Ukraine MBBS degree is valid in India. You will get a license to practice in India. Between 2012-19, the university from which the highest percentage of Indian students cleared the licensing exam is Bukovinian State Medical University. High FMGE results generally mean good quality education.
