Guangxi Medical University is one of the top medical universities in China. Its clinical medicine program has been categorized in the world’s top 1%, according to Thomson Reuters Web of Science Essential Science Indicators. It is one of the 45 universities which are allowed to teach MBBS in China to international students in English medium. The university was founded in 1934 and is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi (South China). It has 4 campuses currently. The university is among the first 8 medical colleges in the country to recruit foreign students and is one of the earliest 30 universities with an English-speaking course for foreign students. Also, it is one of the 3 key universities built by the People ’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

As per the website 4icu.org, Guangxi Medical University ranking is 1,776 and the country rank is 181 as on 26 May 2020. Center for World University Rankings has given this university a ranking of 1,394 in the world and a national rank of 159.

However, as stated by Global Medical Foundation on several occasions, these world rankings have no relevance while selecting the medical university for MBBS abroad.

The rankings which Indian students should be checking is the MCI result and Guangxi Medical University‘s FMGE passing percentage was 12.74% between 2015-18.

Eligibility Criteria

Guangxi Medical University’s eligibility criteria for an Indian student is as follows –

Entrance Exam in India There is no entrance exam in India like IELTS/SAT, etc. NEET qualification is a must.
Age The student must be at least 18 years old. Students below 18 years must provide a guardian certificate.
Board The candidate must have completed class 12th from a recognised board.
Marks for General Category students The student must have a minimum of 70% in class 12th in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Marks for Other Category students Same as that of General category student. No relaxation based on category.
NEET NEET qualified. NEET result is valid for 3 years from 2018 onwards for MBBS abroad admission.
