History of West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University

West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University began its journey in 1957. It was establisehd on September 1, 1957 as Aktobe State Medical Institute which taught the specialty “General Medicine”. In 1963, the first batch of 157 doctors graduated. In 1997, the Institute received the status of an Academy. Three years later, the institution was renamed the West Kazakhstan State Medical Academy and in 2009, the university received the status of West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov State Medical University.

Today, the university is a major educational, scientific and medical hub. The university teaches both bachelor’s degree course and post-graduate education (residency, magistracy, PhD-doctorate). As per the university, currently 264 Indian students are studying here. The university has trained 25,000+ specialists in the field of higher and postgraduate medical education.
