Semey State Medical University is a WHO-recognised medical university in Kazakhstan. University History
1953 – Semey Medical University began on 1st September 1953 with the establishment of its medical faculty. In its 1st year, the university enrolled a total of 320 students.
1957 – Semey Medical University got the distinction of a Second Category University.
1959 – The 1st batch graduated and 275 students got their diplomas.
1963 – Pediatrics faculty was established.
1967 – Interdepartmental experimental laboratory was set up.
1984 – The Faculty of Professional Development was established.
1998 – This was the 1st time that the training of foreigners was started in the English medium. Students from India thus got the opportunity to study in English medium at Semey State Medical University.
1998 – Regional hospital became the part of SMU.
2003 – The university obtained license for training students for “Medical-preventive work” and “Pharmacy”.
2007 – “Nursing”, “Public Health” and “General Medicine” were started.
2009 – Simulation rooms were established. Robot-simulator was bought for developing practical skills.
2010 – The Bologna Declaration was signed by SMU’s rector.
2012 – First batch of the General Medicine faculty graduated.
2012 – The university won the award for “The Best Medical Educational Institution” in the Asian Education Leadership Awards.
2013 – The university received a 4-star level in EFQM Excellence Model.
2013 – Cardiac surgery department and endovascular laboratory were started.
2014 – SMU got accreditation for a 5-year course.
2015 – SMU became a part of the Association of Indian Universities.
2016 – For the 1st time, the Academic Mobility of SSMU students in Barcelona was started.
2020 -The university was awarded the “Best Medical University” award by the National Rating of the Best Universities of Kazakhstan.

Semey State Medical University Eligibility
Following is Semey State Medical Univeristy eligibility critera for an Indian student:
Entrance Exam in India You don't have to qualify any entrance such as IELTS/SAT, etc.
Age The student must be at least 17 years old as on 31st December of the year in which the admission is being taken.
Board The candidate must have completed class 12th from a regular and recognised board.
Marks for General Category students The student must have an aggregate of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject.
Marks for Other Category students The candidate must have an aggregate of at least 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject.
NEET You need to qualify NEET from 2018 onwards for admission in abroad. NEET result is valid for 3 years from 2018 onwards for MBBS abroad admission.
